| Since 2007, TRANSMISSION has hosted shows with local, national, and international contemporary artists. Bret Payne, owner and director, opened the gallery with the dual goals of creating new opportunities for local artists and introducing new artists to the area. Most shows group Richmond-based alongside out-of-town talent. From providing artists with their first gallery experience to hosting internationally recognized art-makers, equal attention is paid to all career levels. TRANSMISSION has established itself as a forum dedicated to high levels of talent in all mediums. From challenging to tried and true methods, the exhibits seek to avoid stagnation or monotony. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, prints, sound-based works, photography, video, and performances have all been a part of the shows in the gallery. TRANSMISSION's desire has always been to provide an atmosphere as equally inviting to those seeking quiet contemplation as to those who are eager to be a part of open dialogue. |
